Women's Interest Magazines

Via Luma Works, the publishing and packaging company I co-own, I have originated concepts for, developed, project managed, edited and written several successful women's interest titles in the last few years:

  • Something Sweet is a beautifully photographed magazine that helps readers master the art of making their own delicious confectionery. I was tasked with researching a comprehensive list of must-have tools and gadgets to give to readers, as well as planning, project managing, writing and editing five test issues for this project. It successfully went national.
  • Cake Decorating was an original idea pitched to the publisher and then project-managed at every step of the way from initial research groups and test issues through to creating, writing and editing 120 issues for its national launch. It went on to be De Agostini's best-selling product in over a decade and launched in 22 countries. It relaunches in the UK in 2018.
  • Essential Guide to Beauty was a 'buy and try' collection of cosmetics with step-by-step guides on how to use them. I researched and planned the products and contents, and organised and led hair and beauty shoots, working alongside the head of Chanel's training school and leading make-up artists. I managed an in-house team of five staff, contributed content, and edited the magazine, which was a successful national and international launch.
  • I have also written freelance editorial features on health and fitness for BBC Health, David Lloyd Leisure Clubs and River Publishing.
